Before And During Using An Ink Refill Kit
What if your ink cartridge goes empty? You either need to recycle it or refill it with ink. The second option of course saves a fair amount of money. So buying an ink refill kit is profitable. However, the customer does need to know some basic points before buying an ink refill kit so as to prevent possible damage to the printer and also to proceed with ease through the refilling process.
Prior To Buying Your Ink Refill Kit
Different printers are designed with different techniques for drawing ink from the cartridge on to the printing paper. Further, the inks also vary in their properties. Therefore, the ink refill kit that you buy must be in accord with your printer’s model. One thing to remember is that many printer manufacturers invalidate the warranty if you buy an inkjet refill kit.
Extra care is needed in refilling the printer cartridge in case of printers with the print head built into the ink cartridge (HP for example). If you refill more than a couple of times, chances are that the printer head, the printer, or both will be damaged. You should also take care not to let the cartridge run completely of ink, you can prevent the print head from overheating.
Tips On Refilling With An Ink Refill Kit
Refill the cartridge before it becomes completely empty. Do not allow ink to dry inside the cartridge before it is refilled or the quality of the print will become poor. Also, do not try to print with an empty cartridge for it can result in permanent damage to the print head. To check whether a particular color is empty, check by printing a test page. Simply use the option of ‘Print Test Page’ in the folder ‘Printers’ in the computer’s control panel.
When refilling the ink cartridge, stop if the ink starts flowing out of the print head or refill hole. It indicates that the cartridge is full. Depending on the model, some cartridges may need adjustment to the change in pressurization that comes with the refilling process. This may require letting the refilled cartridge sit for a brief while, or using a plastic bottle for blowing air into the cartridge’s air hole.
One thing worth paying attention is getting the right color in the right chamber. Finally, carefully follow the instructions as given on the ink refill kit. This is important because the labels on the color cartridges may sometimes be misleading.
